MUSIC

The Bible is full of commands for His people to sing praises to His name. Our music ministry exists to encourage every believer to lift their voice to the praise of our great God.

What is the corporate worship style?

Our music style is a blend of contemporary and traditional hymns, seeking to involve everyone in Christ-centered worship.
The 8:45 a.m. service is typically led by a praise team while the 11:00 a.m. service is led by our adult choir and orchestra.
Our 6:00 p.m. service is often led by our Youth Choir.

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir is open to anyone 18 and older. We provide leadership in the 11 a.m. worship service and also sing in other services during special occasions throughout the year, such as Christmas and Easter. We rehearse every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the choir room.

Our Adult Choir has recorded 6 CDs.
  • “You Are God Alone” in 2009;
  • “The Promise of Christmas” in 2010
  • “The Power of the Cross” in 2012
  • "Say Amen" in 2015.
  • "This is Amazing Grace" in 2018
  • "Behold Our God" in 2021

Adult Choir Q+A

If you have any further questions or would like to know more about our music ministry, please contact Associate Pastor Clay Layfield.

What if I can't read music?

No problem! Although we do sing from printed music, there are many members who are at different levels of being able to read music. Do not let that keep you from joining!

What if my voice is not solo material?

Again, no problem! We are uniting our voices together and not relying on just a few. While many of our members sing solos, it is totally optional and no one is asked to sing one if they are not comfortable with that.

Does the choir meet on Sunday mornings?

Our choir meets in the choir room around 10:45 a.m. so we can warm up and make final preparations for the worship service.  After the warm-up is completed, we assemble in the choir loft moments before the 11 a.m. service begins.

What if I want to attend the 8:45 a.m. service?

Works for us! The adult choir sings early in the 11 a.m. service and leaves the choir loft soon after. Those who have attended the earlier service are free to leave campus once we finish. We do ask that every choir member be present for the sermon at either service they prefer.

Youth Choir

For any 7-12th grade students.

Our youth choir is one of the most exciting musical groups in our church. This choir is open to any students from grades 7-12 and sings frequently in our 6 p.m. worship services. They rehearse every Sunday during the school year at 4:45 p.m. in the choir room. This group also sings on occasions during the morning worship services and has travelled to lead worship services in other churches in neighboring counties.

Children's Choir

For 1-6th grade students.

The children's choir meets on Sunday afternoons during the school year from 5-6 p.m. in the Children's Ministry Center. This choir will occasionally sing in our 6 p.m. worship service and is led by Sophia Danforth.

Each year our Children’s Choir presents a musical during the Christmas season. The fall season is busy with rehearsals for this performance.  During the spring, they continue to meet and will sing during a 6 p.m. service.

Preschool Choir

The Preschool choir is open to children from age 3 through Kindergarten and meets on Sunday afternoons during the school year from 5-6 p.m. in the Children's Ministry Center.

This choir will occasionally sing in our 6 p.m. worship service and preforms every December before the annual Children's musical.

Instrumental Ensembles

ORCHESTRA
The orchestra is open to any instrumentalist from grade 9 and up and provides musical leadership in the 11 a.m. worship service. Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays at 6 and on Sundays at 10 a.m. during the Sunday School hour.

HANDBELL CHOIR
Our handbell choir consists of 12 members and membership is only available through an audition. Not only will this group perform frequently in our morning worship services, they will perform in other locations, such as local nursing homes and even the Dodge State Prison. This group is most active during the Christmas season and has become well-known in our area for their musical excellence.
